The Jewish Community
From the Destruction of the Second Temple (70 C.E.) to the Period of the Enlightenment (18th-19th Centuries)


 
 
In this lesson we will visit traditional Jewish communities, as they existed in the Diaspora from the Destruction of the Second Temple (Second Exile) through the 18th century.

In this lesson:

  • Learn about the various communal institutions, their functions and importance to the community.
  • Become familiar with the communities’ customs and the roles played by various members of the community.
