Lesson 3 Who Needs Community?     "A tree may be alone in the field, a man may be alone in the world, but no Jew is alone on his holy days." Abba Kovner     This lesson addresses the Diaspora Jewish Community: how it developed and survived through the long period of Exile (Galut). In this lesson: We will Define the term, “Jewish community” and explain what it provided for its members. We will explore the unique needs of Jews everywhere: in relation to the observance of mitzvot, in relation to their existence, and explore how the Jewish community met these needs. We will understand how the Jewish community survived in the Diaspora, despite very difficult conditions.
