Fourth Session: How Other People See You


In this lesson we will examine ourselves from the partner group's point of view
Like all lessons in 'Home and Community', this lesson is divided into 3 parts.
If you have already completed a part of the lesson, skip to the next part.
Personal Activity
1. Enter the forum and answer the questions of the partner group.
2. Consider what we can learn about them from the questions they ask.
3. Consider what we can learn about ourselves from the questions they ask.
Group Activity
1. Read your partner group's description.
2. Compare the various aspects of your lifestyle with those of your partner group.
3. Consider how you look in the eyes of your partner group.
Interactive Part
1. Answer the questions the partner group posted in the forum.
2. Ask your partner group questions which were raised by their group description.
3. Respond to the initial impressions of the other group.

Enter the forum, find the questions your partner group asks about your personal story.

B. Are you ready?

Consider the following questions and answer them in the writing page:
  • Which questions were repeated?

  • What kinds of questions were asked?


  • What can you learn about the members of your partner group from the questions they asked? (e.g.: The question 'What is it like to live on kibbutz?' tells you that your partner group members may live in the city.)


  • What can you learn about yourself from the questions they asked? (e.g.: From the previous question you can learn that living on kibbutz makes us unique.)

Which questions and answers appeared in the personal activity?

  • Can you reach an agreement on what you can learn about yourself from your partner group's questions?

  • Can you reach an agreement on what you can learn about your partner group from their questions?

B. Learning More About Your Partner Group

Now you will try to learn more about your partner group.

You will use the 'Group Information Tool'. where you can see the general information about your group and the partner group.

Look at the information in the tool and compare the groups.

  • What was most surprising?

  • Which aspects did you presume would be accepted?

  • What is similar between your group and your partner group?

  • What is different?

  • Where are the differences expressed? (e.g.: kind of settlement, hobbies, etc.)
  • What causes the differences?

  • What can you learn about yourself from these differences?

  • What can you learn about your partner group?

  • Answer the questions of your partner group concerning your group description or their presumptions about you.
